SDEA's Annual Union Academy
On August 4, over 200 memberleaders from 126 school sites and programs attended SDEA’s annual UnionAcademy. SDEA President Kyle Weinberg, CTA President David Goldberg, and UTLANEA Vice President Georgia Flowers Lee spoke to the critical moment we are inand how the We Can’t Wait campaign will help us win big for our students andcommunities across California.
NEA’s “strike doula” NateGunderson, presented a core session on what SDEA members can expect as theyprepare for strike readiness for the first time in nearly 30 years! There wasalso a full suite of additional workshops relating to fighting back againstfascism, building power at the site level, and family and student organizing.All day member leaders were energetic and enthusiastic, and left Union Academyready to lead SDEA to victory!
