Twin Rivers Educators Prepared for Historic Strike

Twin Rivers United Educators (TRUE) members are ready to put it all on the line for their students and each other tomorrow, March 5. Twin Rivers Unified in the North Sacramento area has more than 2,000 students without a permanent, credentialed teacher in their classrooms. Stay tuned for more! Oakland Educators Win!

After 12 months of negotiations, a resounding strike vote, and an 18-hour negotiations session, Oakland Education Association (OEA) won a contract that will help stabilize staffing and provide much-needed support for all Oakland students. OEA leaders said the victory would not have been possible without the commitment and solidarity of OEA members with each other, their students and the Oakland community. #WeAreOEA

Natomas Teachers are Building a Movement as They Get Strike-Ready

Natomas Teachers Association (NTA) members and supporters are building powerful solidarity in their communities, walking neighborhoods and talking about the fight for safe and stable schools. While Natomas Unified refuses to end their ongoing staffing crisis, NTA is ready to strike on March 10 for a fair contract that invests in Natomas students. Along with authorized strikes in Twin Rivers and West Sacramento, the next few weeks could be a Solidarity Spring across Sacramento.

Soquel Educators Continue Organizing, Building Community Solidarity

Soquel Education Association members last month submitted a petition to their school board with the signatures of more than 1,000 parents and community members supporting safe, stable schools and fair compensation for educators. With a massive health care increase this year on top of no pay increase last year, SEA members are getting crunched – with some educators paying as much as $1,700 per month out of pocket for healthcare. In a district with a legacy of problems retaining educators, a recent survey showed 47% of Soquel educators are actively looking for another job.
